My name is Tyler Rasmussen. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Wichita State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri. After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree I began a career administering government funded low income housing programs of various types and continued in the field for about the next 20 years.
Some of the programs I have worked are familiar to many, at least by name. Programs such as Section 8 and Public Housing are known to most, usually due to bad press. Other programs I have worked such as Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA), Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing (HPRP), Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) and various programs designated for seniors.
My career outside of civil service includes retail, sales and transportation which I did for about 25 years prior to and after attending college and working with government programs. The short version is that I have extensive experience in both the private and public sector and adequate education to discuss matters of social significance.
